The Triple Goddess Tarot Card Birth of the Moon

The Triple Goddess Tarot Card Birth of the Moon

“It is a sad fact that many women fear the night and the deep, dark forest, for these are two arenas in which the female soul should naturally thrive.” (The Triple Goddess Tarot, page 160).

“Night time is really the best time to work. All the ideas are there to be yours because everyone else is asleep.” -Catherine O’Hara

The dark is a place of solitude and contemplation — a place for dreams to spring alive in the mind. The moon is a guiding light piercing through the negative aspects of the dark, and reminds us that we are never without hope even at the worst of times. The moon has been likened to female archetypes in many cultures for thousands of years. The monthly cycle of the moon mirrors a woman’s reproductive cycle. The card Birth of the Moon is a representation of a woman’s emergence out of the fear that darkness brings, and learning to embrace the depth of her inner subconscious.

The psyche is where all our subconscious desires, thoughts, and archetypes lurk. In this dark sphere within the recesses of human thought our deepest dreams, wishes, and fears are revealed. The moon’s guiding light is also an anchor of transformation, and exposes us to the stream of collective consciousness. By submerging into the psyche we may also learn to better attune ourselves to our own intuition or psychic abilities. The Birth of the Moon card shows women that the absence of light is not something bad — rather it is an opportunity to open up ourselves to imagination, dreaming, and intuitive circumstance.

Fair Trade in Business – It’s About The People

Fair Trade in Business – It’s About The People

At Columbia Gem House it is our firm belief that business is about much more than just the money – it’s really about the people. Recently a high school business teacher contacted us – she wanted us to know how impressed she was with our fair trade website. Already having a passion for fair trade, she decided to use some of our materials in her class that she uncovered on our site. We are always excited to hear such positive feedback about the work we do and the subject matter. It’s this type of enthusiasm that makes us feel that we really are making a positive change in the lives of others – as educators of the fair trade movement, and for the gemstone workers in the mines.

We’d like everyone to become involved in learning more about fair trade issues, but it really is the youthful consumer who is forging the way for justice for gemstone workers in this industry. We are thrilled that this business teacher is teaching her students how corporate culture can become more about the people. The consumer has the strongest voice to spread the word to retailers in this country demanding to buy more fair trade products. We do our best to also engage jewelry retailers in this very important message – people are listening. It is our hope that the more people become aware of these crucial issues, the more the consumer will decide where to spend their hard-earned money.

Fair Trade: Become a Part of the Solution

Fair Trade: Become a Part of the Solution

Eric and Earl’s presentation at the Tucson Show – “Fair Trade: Become a Part of the Solution,” was a big hit with the Gem Fair crowd! We are so excited to hear that consumers and retailers are showing an even greater interest in fair trade, especially in a down market. They spoke about the terrible plight of gemstone workers in foreign countries, a history of Fair Trade Gems, and participated in a riveting discussion on the underlying ethical complications within this industry. In case you didn’t make it out to the Tucson show, this website includes some alarming facts about the tragedies that occur in this business: Hearts of Darkness — Institute for Global Labor and Human Rights

Our seminar was well-attended and many people asked fantastic questions. Generally speaking, people of all ages are becoming more interested in fair trade, but especially younger shoppers and newer stores are taking a strong interest in improving the humanitarian issues within this industry. Retailers are starting to notice that consumers have been asking more questions about where their diamonds and gems come from. We are dedicated to having a transparent supply chain and are able to reassure consumers and retailers with the knowledge of where our products are made and who’s making them. We are intimately involved in the process of our supply chain from start to finish. We can offer consumers an ethical choice about the source of their beautiful gems and retailers a way to answer this concern for their customers.

Creating a humanitarian change in the gem industry really boils down to the consumer asking the right questions of the retailer. In fact, one of the primary brand name retailers in the country had us send them two stones recently. This was in reaction to a customer requesting a ruby for their engagement ring — but it had to be traceable, responsibly sourced and fair trade. When they looked for an option, we were the only one they found who offered the transparency the client wanted. This is happening much more frequently. In response to consumer demand, retailers are starting to ask themselves more about the value of Fair Trade Gems and their potential to sell. Significantly more consumers have been asking for colored stones in their engagement and wedding rings. This is an exciting time for us as a company. We are happy to be able to provide our ethically sourced Fair Trade Gems for retailers and consumers alike.

Inner Child Tarot Cards

Isha Lerner is a well-known author and astrologer. These are some samples of work I did for her company’s website — descriptions of her Inner Child Tarot Cards.

Isha Lerner’s Website — Inner Sight

The Little Red Riding Hood Card:

The Little Red Riding Hood Card connects us to our global evolution and awakening consciousness. As a global shift occurs in our consciousness, we become more inclined as a society to let go of the world we have previously known. On the individual level, Little Red Riding Hood is the epitome of innocence, being kept in the dark, and false beliefs. As we learn new information we become enlightened to not only good, but frightening things as well.

It’s important to remember that as these shifts in our consciousness occur, it’s essential to remain aware and resolute in the face of changes to come. These changes will not happen on their own. To keep up with the vibrational adjustments happening around us, we should strive to study spiritual philosophies, as well as maintain clear thoughts free of negativity. “Nothing ever happened in the past that can prevent you from being present now; and if the past cannot prevent you from being present now, what power does it have?” -Eckhart Tolle

The Yellow Brick Road Card:

The Yellow Brick Road Card is a link with the psyche as the metaphoric road for those who are lost, and seeking to find their place in the world. This card is the fulfillment of the soul — the belief that in the journey of life, your consciousness will awaken. Traditionally this Tarot card is also known as the Sun Card. The Sun Card guides the path of our subconscious into the light of learning and understanding.

The Yellow Brick Road Card is also a representation of the ego: as solar flares skid across the sky, as they did with ferocity during the month of June, our egos tend to spike with white hot intensity. The path to self-discovery may be hindered if we allow our egos to flare without cause. In order to secure a personal sense of calm, try to incorporate a balanced perspective into your awareness. If friends and family are acting in ways that are destructive to your own spiritual journey it might be time for a change of scenery. The ego tends to center in harmony when we promote positive internal growth.
